This Lynne seems like a persistent girl, also wants to focus on the magician class. She does have some useful skills though, even if she sees them as "basic". Not going to lie, I do find her personality somewhat annoying, at least from this episode.

Lynne's father seems to trust Noor but he has a rocky relationship wih Ines already. Noor receiving that sword could also be useful on his adventure. A lot of buildup this time. I'm still not sold on Noor's personality yet so they need to improve on that.

That protagonist is way too oblivious to the situation and unaware of his own strenght to the point that it just makes him look dumb as hell. And I get that he's a nice guy and doesn't expect a reward for saving people but his unwillingness to accept any reward was overplayed.

Haha he gets a massive sword as a reward for saving Clays and the first thing in his mind is that he can use it to clean the shit from the gutters. Heh, that's just comical.

Men in this anime are so hot! Somehow the lancer/spear kind of guy look all the same in every anime ranging from Fate to previous season's New Gate to this anime, they're all in tight spandex!

I'm wondering which anime's protagonist will realized that he's stronger than most adventurers first, between this anime and Shinmai Ossan. It's gonna be the battle of brawn-over-brain heroes, and I want to be in the middle of this meaty sandwich.

I didn't love that they made it so the main character was clueless about his surroundings. I don't think it adds to the story. They are making the main character too stupid.

Noor stats pretty much fuck up. 3 Charisma and 3 Int by the look of it, understandable considering he live alone, not much human contact for over a decade until he became an adventurer and hyper focused on training.

Noor living up to the series title.

They should start to tone down on the oblivious and good-guy nature of Noor...it's molding the character into a "nou-kin" and it's slowly getting to a point where it's unbearable to watch.

Apparently in the manga/LN, the author continues on with this oblivious MC troupe for hundreds of pages. Which is a big no no for me. It's already frustrating enough now.

Noor is an absolute idiot but the people around him help perpetuate the stupidity by not doing something simple like telling him exactly what they're thanking him for; you'd think that at least one of them would have mentioned that it was an A-class demon called a minotaur rather than leaving him to think it's a bloody COW. Seriously, what the hell are the cows like back where he grew up? Oi.

Then there's the whole maid 'misunderstanding'. He's aware of the concept and duties of a maid, but for some reason thinks that one of them would be going around fully armed and armored?

I like his humility in parrying away any excessive displays of gratitude for saving Lynne's life, but the overflowing syrup of stupidity is seriously dragging this down.

Ah yes, the show is just like I remember the light novel being. Noor is absurdly oblivious to everything and no one every explains things to him properly, causing the misunderstandings to go on and on forever. Time to find out if I can parry my mounting frustration long enough to finish the season.

Almost the same as the manga, but they omitted a couple of minor things.
part of the conversation with the father, in the manga MC was thinking of raising his Adventurer rank to E, that was not shown in the anime.

Another part was when the "maid" was thanking MC, she supposed to give the explanation that she got her ass saved by him as well, as she was not there to protect the princess, that part was missing in the anime.

A lot of posts flaming the MC for being a product of the environment he grew up in. They did a good job explaining why he views the world the way he does, and I like that they didn't just drop this trait in the second episode. If he does not have any growth by end of the season I would get the criticism, but it is too soon to rush to judgement. I have been entertained by the first two episodes and look forward to seeing if they build on it. Good episode. I appreciate them taking the time to build out the world and story.

It was not missing, it's there at around the 20:20-20:30 mark.

So...apparently the MC is really dense. Not just when it comes to the misunderstanding about his level strength but also the strength of others and an all-around common sense. I get why BUT...

That's why, this will probably be just another mediocre series to watch when I have nothing else to watch.

@Tarrian Did he actually tell anyone that he only killed a simple cow? The joke is that no one would ever think he's that fucking stupid. lol

@Akirarara Naturally, the author is using this as a comedic device, so there's no reason for him to grow out of his exaggerated stupidity.

@YukiTsubaki This sort of thing can be funny, but to me it just doesn't work when it's so straightforward, it has to be way more crazy or over the top, like Eminence in Shadow. Here, I just come away thinking Noor is mentally slow, even if I understand the literary intention is comedic in nature, and no, him being a farm boy doesn't justify his intelligence, because this is not a series aiming for that level of realism.

@LostSpectre Exactly what I'm saying! It's just too...candid. I might have liked it if it was intending to be more on the comedy side. But it's not. It's like they're just trying so hard to mix serious with fantasy comedy that it fails horribly.

@YukiTsubaki It's possible that the LN comes across better or more organically, these sort of run of the mill fantasy adaptations usually cut out quite a lot of detail, exposition, character monologues, etc. but I can only speculate here. I should clarify that a lot of people didn't get the humor in Eminence because it can be pretty dry/deadpan as well, but that's contrasted against the MC being a certifiably insane chuuinbyu. If I'm laughing at Noor's stupidity it's because it's so incredibly bad, forced, and awkward, not because the irony is actually comedic in an endearing sense.

im defending the mc. He has been alone training for what like 20 fucking years in a forest. Ofc he would be slow af and not good with human interactions and yet despite all that, he stays humble af and thats rlly admirable. I like him and I don't think that will change. Love his nonchalent delivery on everything, pretty funny.

Another good episode.

I am glad that he is humble and not looking for rewards, showing his good character and that his intent was to help save the people from the attacker.

It is hilarious that he doesn't know how strong he is with his parry skill and that he defeated the demon, calling the monster a "cow".

Seemed the leader knew exactly how to finally get him to accept a gift, thinking about how he used a sword to defeat the demon, he offers his own sword as a gift, which is actually perfect of his Parry still.

But it cracked me up that he thinks of using it to clean out the gutters, I want "Oh gosh" while busting up.

Dang I really wanted to see that fight at the end, guess I will wait till next week.
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

This is getting awesome each episode!

P.S. Even with the criticism for this series not working out for them, it's actually working. Don't even compare it to Eminence in Shadow.

I like how they portrayed the MC's honest to goodness character, his humble personality and attitude towards others, and especially, how natural it was in this episode and the previous one.

It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

he litterly saw bodies being cut apart and saved a girl bound to die if he didnt block that
and says what he did was nothing important
he doesn't want anything, he doesnt care about other lives, and acts like the dumbest most naieve shit on earth.

it makes absolutely no freaking sense
